Post-Visit Follow-Up SMS — Patient Consent
Cleo Health provides automated post-visit follow-up communications on behalf of participating healthcare clinics. Patients must provide consent before receiving follow-up phone calls or text messages about their recent visit.
Who Sends These Messages
- Messages are sent by Cleo Health on behalf of the patient's care provider or clinic.
- Messages are about the patient's recent medical visit only — including discharge instructions, medications, test results, and follow-up steps.
- Messages are not general marketing or promotional blasts.
How Patients Consent — Verbal Consent at the Clinical Visit
Verbal consent script
How consent is documented
When the patient verbally agrees, the licensed care provider or authorized clinic staff documents the patient's consent in the Cleo clinical visit workflow and the patient's medical record before any follow-up phone call or text message is sent.
When messages are sent
Text messages are sent only after the patient has provided verbal consent during their visit and only in connection with that consented post-visit follow-up program. SMS is typically sent after a related automated follow-up phone call about the same encounter.
How Patients Consent — SMS Keyword Confirmation
After a patient has provided verbal consent during their visit and receives an initial follow-up text message, the patient may confirm SMS enrollment by replying YES, START, or UNSTOP.
